Please join the health and physical education community TODAY by sending a letter to Congress and flooding social media with advocacy messages about the importance of fully funding Title IV, Part A of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) for FY20.
For FY19, Congress increased funding for Title IV, Part A to $1.17 billion — a $70 million increase over the previous year. Congress is addressing appropriations right now! Be sure to engage your members of Congress on the importance of Title IV, Part A funding so we can retain, and hopefully increase, the funding level for FY20.
Also, be sure to check out the blog post from Carly Wright, SHAPE America’s director of public policy & advocacy, to get all of the updates, information and takeaways you need!
There isn’t a moment to spare. Sending a message takes just a minute or two, but it will do so much to help our efforts.
SPEAK Out! Day Registration Now Open
This March 10-11, join the SHAPE America community for our annual SPEAK Out! Day — the day we head to Capitol Hill to advocate for funding for health and physical education programs in schools and professional development for teachers.
We’ll have successes to share about how ESSA funding has supported health and PE programs across the country, and of course, we’ll be advocating for continued funding for Title II (professional development) and Title IV, Part A of ESSA. Register today!
