Salt River Project (SRP) invites Arizona teachers to apply for Classroom Grants of up to $5,000 beginning October 1, 2024. The grants are available for teachers looking to incorporate creative ways to keep their students engaged in STEM and social science projects.
Every year, the SRP Classroom Grants Program offers two types of grants:
- STEM Grants provide up to $5,000 for school projects that incorporate innovative teaching strategies in mathematics and science.
- Social Science Grants provide up to $2,500 for the disciplines of history, geography, civics, government and economics.
For the 2024-2025 school year, SRP funded more than $180,000 for STEM and social science projects, including problem-solving through robotics, artificial intelligence and hands-on physics experiments.
Teachers can use their funds to purchase any equipment and supplies that will support their curriculum.
“I am very grateful to have SRP as a partner in education. Their generosity allows me to bring innovative and creative ideas into the classroom that would otherwise not come to fruition,” said Dr. Melissa Wendell, Engineering Teacher at Corona del Sol High School. “The grant from SRP has helped fund a high-quality 3D printer for my classroom, which lets my students bring their ideas to life.”
SRP contributes more than $2 million annually to support education initiatives throughout Arizona. In addition to financial support, SRP provides free workshops and resources to K-12 educators to help them better engage students in STEM education.
