ullying can be prevented, especially when the power of a community is brought together. Anyone can help prevent bullying with the right tools. That’s why it’s so important for community leaders to come together to help identify and support children who are bullied, redirect the behavior of children who bully, and change the attitudes of adults and youth who tolerate bullying behaviors in peer groups, schools , and communities. Bullying can happen anywhere. When more community members are prepared to respond to bullying, it can be stopped for good.

5 Ways to Prevent Bullying in Your Communities
Whether in person or online, everyone in the community has the power to help reinforce the message that bullying is not okay. You can become a leader in bullying prevention for your community with these five tips:

  1. Learn about what bullying is and the best ways to respond.
  2. Use your unique strengths and skills. For example, leaders in youth sports groups could focus on teamwork and skill-building to bring out the best in their students.
  3. Involve anyone who wants to learn about bullying and help prevent bullying in the community like mental health specialists, local associations, adults who work with kids, parents, and youth.
  4. Train with resources to help you lead bullying prevention efforts in your local communities.
  5. Build a community strategy to address bullying.

All community members play an important role in making sure all kids are safe from bullying behavior. No matter your role in the community, you can use your position to prevent and stop bullying. With the right resources and the power of the community coming together, we can stop bullying once and for all!
