Guy Le Masurier, PhD is a professor of Sport, Health and Physical Education (SHAPE) at Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. Guy is grateful to teach and learn with his students on the traditional Snuneymuxw (Snew-Nay-Moo) territory. Guy teaches physical education pedagogy, research methods, nutrition for health and sport, and the program’s capstone undergraduate scholarship course.
Dr. Le Masurier has conducted and published numerous studies focused on physical activity with youth, adults and clinical populations. Guy has presented his research and perspectives at numerous national and regional conferences in Canada, the United States, and internationally.
He is also a co-author of the award-winningFitness for Life fitness education curriculum that supports physical literacy among adolescents. Guy has served his profession as a reviewer, associate editor and editorial board member of the Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, and as the Health Foundations editor for the International Journal of Physical Education.
Dr. Le Masurier was inducted as a Research Consortium Fellow of the Society for Health and Physical Educators of America in 2010. Guy enjoys drumming and gardening in his spare time. Guy and his wife, Jodi, have served their community of Protection Island as volunteer firefighters for 13 years.
