A rookie is a person new to our profession.  In contrast with a veteran who has experience and expertise, a rookie is usually inexperienced and prone to making mistakes, however, if you know of a Rookie Health and Physical Education Teacher that has proven exceptional skills, please consider nominating them.

The process is easy!  Once you nominate someone, you will be contacted on what needs to be done next and how we will help.

The purpose of the Rookie Award is to publicly recognize an outstanding new practitioner who has made valuable contributions in their position. To be considered for this award, nominees must meet the following criteria:

  • Current membership in Arizona Health and Physical Education
  • Holds a current certification as a teacher
  • One full year of teaching experience in their field
  • Eligible through 5th year of teaching
  • Full-time teaching contract, current at the time of nomination;
  • Minimum of 60% of total teaching responsibility in their teaching field/grade level.
